Learn about Linda Seward, how her recent obsession with the natural world is impacting her quilting.
Description
In this interview, Linda Seward (Quilting Expert, Author, Lecturer, and Quilt Judge) shares how she got into the world of quilting and her most recent obsession with the natural world – – which has resulted in some gorgeous new fungi inspired quilts!
Most of us know of Linda as the author of twelve books about her favourite subject, quilting. This includes The Complete Book of Patchwork, Quilting and Appliqué which has been used as a source book for the British City & Guilds Patchwork & Quilting course and has sold over a quarter of a million copies in several languages.
More recently Linda has been inspired by the natural world. She started taking daily walks during Covid where she photographed flowers, bees, hoverflies, birds, weeds, lichen, and fungi. Hence 365 days of photos!
She also started writing about what she saw and engaging with a whole new world of experts. They were happy to help her understand what she was coming across so that she could share this with us.
You’ll enjoy hearing about how she livened up a Mycologist event by putting up a fungi inspired quilt in place of scientific poster.
It all comes back to quilting with Linda.
She incorporated her love of fungi in a quilt that appeared at the Festival of Quilts in 2022. You’ll see a wide range of her new quilting work in this interview.
Her next obsession? Hoverflies.
