Dionne Swift’s Structural Stitching Series Part 5, Using layers of fabric to create faux chenille look.
In this episode Dionne continues her quick trials, tests and experiments with the simple straight stitch and fabric.
Continues working with stitching on the bias. The faux chenille technique uses 6 layers of fabric and striaght line stitching on the bias.
There are tips on securing the ends, the direction of sewing and the width between the stitched lines.
Using fabric with an open weave for the layers, on a variety of stable coloured fabrics the finished piece looks fantastic.
Dionne loves how the direction of the stitching adds to the movement of the fabric.
