City lights is a very simple patchwork quilt is made with traditional squares and rectangles.
Description
A very simple quilt block creates this quilt, utilising squares and rectangles. The beauty comes from the fabrics used. Helen chose some of the Oakshott fabric ranges resulting in two colour ways to use each time. Hence the effect of lights being either on or off.
The blocks do require some accurate piecing (which is a little unusual for Helen as she is usually more of an improv girl!) – so do pay attention. However, Valerie Nesbitt suggests that if your seams are a little large (so that the centre strip ends up shorter than 6.5″ ) then just trim all the blocks to the same smaller size !!
Helen talks about three ranges from Oakshott – Window pane, Grayshott and Basketweave, similar fabrics are available from Oakshott. You will need 2 x packs of Fat 1/8ths 8 colours and 1 charm 8 colours pack.
The pattern is available for our subscribed members as usual as a pdf.
