Val: Had a really lovely weekend up in Harrogate – such a pretty town – and the weather was kind.
Saturday was spent wandering round under my own steam – its been a long time since I was just a visitor to a show; bumped into a lot of friends/contributors to our site such as Sylvia Critcher; Sue at Daisy Chain; Lynette our very own ‘Stitch Witch’ ; Hilary from The Silk Route to name but three and Jennie was busy there too – teaching; – and of course like all visitors I ended up spending money! Buying fabric is what we do isn’t it?– so I got some alchohol free fabric with wine bottles and grapes on it and some low calorie Liquorice Allsorts fabric!
BUT I did buy myself two little hand projects so that my evenings with my quilt groups aren’t just chat! – purchased an embroidery kit made by Rowendean that has all the threads and sheer fabrics to create a 3D picture
(from sales@choiceembroidery.co.uk) and then another sweet little kit that is a mixture of felt and patchwork by Cinnamon Patch and sold by Patchwork Chicks
( www.patchworkchicks.com) as well as stained glass patterns from Patchworks Creations of Aberdeen (www.patchwork-creations.com) to make a couple of table runners: no-one seemed to sell bottled extra time however!
Dave and Matt joined me for a full day of filming on the Sunday and we found lots of quilts to show you; we have a section of film on Gail Lawther’s latest exhibition – Glimpses of Britain; we met up with new contributors Jane Rollason ; Horn Cabinets; Susan Briscoe; and Katie Pirson as well as finding lots of interesting new products with our regular contributors/traders. So watch out for lots more temptation in our film which will be coming up later and our thanks to Roger Cooling for allowing us to wander round.
BTW: Many of the special sections of the show tour the Grosvenor Shows so will be on display at their other shows around the country; check out www.grosvenorshows.co.uk to find the next one nearest you.
