Val: Wow this month seems to be rushing by – I suppose that’s what happens if you take a few days off; we had a lovely few days in France and the weather was superb.

This Saturday, 22nd, you will find me at the Second Southampton Quilting & Textile Art Fair being held in aid of The Society of St.James (which is a Southampton Charity) and The Goedgedacht Project (a South African charity) at the King Edward VI School in Southampton (SO15 5UQ)– it runs from 10am-3pm and as well as traders there are displays – with the theme of ‘Africa’- and demonstrations; so do come along and say hello.

I will be selling off the Sale Gem Packs from Oakshott but you can also purchase them through the site (at just £5 and £2)

As well as the really excellent Baby Zack cushion which comes ready cut – so all you need to do is sew!

The first part of our Rosebud Fayre Medallion Sampler went live last week and in it Jennie and I talk about the fabrics that I chose, why the medallion centre is made with four large half-square triangle units and not one large square just put on point – so lots to learn about if you are a beginner.

Also last Friday my workshop on making a bargello tablemat – made with the cylinder method of strip piecing which I love and it so easy – so give some thought to updating your table settings for Christmas or making some as gifts.

Today you have a stunning workshop from Jennie called Cosmic Happenings; this has an instant download pattern for you (the file for which is HUGE )so you can make a start straight away. I have done this workshop with Jennie and loved it – it is as easy as she says provided you stay logical and follow her piecing sequence.

We join Mandy Shaw in her workshop which is full of inspiration and ideas; I love her button brooch which can also be used as a closure for a sewing roll or carpet bag;

there are new patterns from Mandy too which I will be loading up onto the site over the weekend that I loved when I was there – they are her Russian Doll range of a quilt, cushion and doorstop all worked in the Russian colours of red, blue and white (which are, of course, ours too).

And coming up at the end of the month you have the second part of the dyeing workshop from Helen Deighan – who loves to keep everything mess-free in her plastic bags.

As always the best way to get the most from the site is to be a subscribed member which is payable through the site month-by-month at just £6 but if you would like to pay by cheque we are very happy for you to do that; full details are on the Members Page of the site.

If you aren’t yet a subscriber but would like to be, how about suggesting a membership as a Christmas present? And to make it more exciting so that you get not only a gift certificate but something to open on Christmas Day, we have put together a Gift Package and included in this there is membership to the Fabric Sample Club run by Creative Quilting, which means you get some lovely fabric squares through the door each month!

Happy Sewing.

P.S. During this half-term week why not think about making button bracelets with Mandy
