The Delilah Quilt with Valerie Nesbitt

This week Valerie talks us through this great quilt designed by Jane Czaja. It’s made from simple 5″ squares and strip pieced from 2 fat quarters. Valerie talks you through how to choose your design layout using Jane’s easy grid and this is made easier as there are no inset seams. Watch Now+

We love this quilt so much that we have made the Delilah Quilt Kit designed by Jane Czaja. our Product of the Month for March. As Valerie says in her workshop it’s very nice and easy to make and quick too since you have most of the fabric pre-cut for you!  The lovely bright and cheerful fabrics for the kit are from a range called Super Snack 2 and the kit comes complete with precut squares, 2 fat 1/4′, fabric for the flat piping and border and full instructions. The finished size, with borders, is 50 ” x 40″. Creative Quilting have put this kit together, so

Lily Block with Jennie Rayment

Jenny Rayment is back this week and this delightful Lily  block is twiddled and fiddled as only Jennie knows how.  The basic lily block is constructed with simple squares, folded and sewn, as is the basket and uses bias strips created without any gadgets. And the Lily block is part of the Floradorable Pattern, which is a free download on the workshop for subscribed members Watch Now+ 

Colouring with Markel Pens with Lee Brown

Did you see Lee Brown last month take us through interesting ways on how to use Markel pens. These are oil based and create interesting pictures which can then be stitched into.   Simple stencil shapes are made out of cartridge paper. Watch Now+

Our Book of the Month for March is Angela Daymond’s brand new book Natural Dyeing: Hints, Tips and Techniques. Update from our late Leap Weekend Quilting retreat

Despite Storm Jorge nothing stopped our ladies joining us for a great weekend last week with Val and Jennie at the Langstone Quays. Niamh Wimperis

The Victorian House of Arts and Crafts series is being repeated on BBC4,, It started last Wednesday 4th March at 8pm. It will also be available on BBC Iplayer for a month afterwards (https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b0by3gcj).
The lovely and talented Niamh Wimperis is featured in all the episodes and next week, in episode 2 you can see the embroidery she will teach at our November 2020 Embroidery Weekend in Surrey. The students at the retreat will be recreating a miniature version of her award winning bedspread from the show. Learn More+
