Knitted cable stitches with Daphne Morris
Daphne Morris loves to add cable to the garments she knits. In this workshop she shows us a variety of different styles of cable that she has included in her garments and demonstrates how easy the cable is to create. We get to see styles including the very popular two part cable; a three part plait; and the honeycomb trellis. All of these add texture to your work. Watch Now+
String Stars with Anne Baxter
This is a great scrap project where anything goes in terms of size and colour. You might want to pre-think a colour palette though in the same way that Anne did. You are asked to use templates – but these are really easy to make yourself. The sewing is dead easy too as the strings and strips are sewn onto a foundation base. Watch Now+

Woven Panel cushion with Jennie Rayment
In this comprehensive workshop Jennie Rayment talks you through weaving with small strips of padded fabric – such a clever idea. It could be a great use of scraps of fabric as well as wadding plus a wonderful opportunity to use some of the coloured threads in your stash. Jennie also goes on to talk through the adding of borders – but don’t be a lopper! Watch Now +
BOOK OF THE MONTH – Mandy Shaw’s British Block Book
Our Book of the Month is Mandy Shaw’s British Block Book. Her brand new book is inspired by her antique Penny Square Quilts. It’s a practical book full of Great Britishness, with over 45 iconic designs and a perfect inspiration for Jubilee year.
PLUS it comes with FREE shipping in the UK for the month of February 2022. Buy British Block Book Now +
Her blocks are inspired by our world famous institutions, our flora and fauna, our idiosyncratic celebrations, our wonderful people and much, much more. The book also includes instructions for using the blocks to make your very own Penny Square Quilt, a cushion, a hoopie, a bag and, of course, a Mandy’s signature hanging heart!
Each block is shown in clear black and white. The spiral binding makes it very easy to lay the book flat to trace or copy the blocks of your choice. You can then keep them all flat, safe and ready to use for years to come. And, of course, you don’t have to stick to redwork. You can use them to create applique and even to make beautiful and personal handmade cards.
To accompany the book, Mandy has also produced an Iron on Transfer Pattern Pack. It has all the blocks as
reusable transfers. These can be used up to 5-6 times depending on the fabric. PLUS an 18″square version of the fabulous British Isles Block to use as a central panel so you can make your very own Penny Quilt without having to enlarge from the book. Buy Transfer Pattern Pack Now +
