Take 3 from Joanne

Hi All,  just a quick note to say thanks to you all for all the information and videos on your site.   This is the first quilt I have ever made and although not perfect, I am very pleased. I machine pieced the 3 strips together before cutting and added the border by machine. Everything else has been done by hand and I even managed to embroider our family names in the corners.

Take 9 variation from Tina

Tina came to our weekend retreat with some wonderful turquoise fabrics AND a fabric with the pink ribbon logo of Cancer Rearch and wanted to make her dear friend a quilt;  not only did we redesign the front blocks - a version of the Take 9 that others were working on -  but  we worked on the back too and while the quilt wasn't finished in the weekend  - it is now!

Dresden Plate from Joyce

I would like to show you my Dresden Plate lap quilt which I have just finished. It is such a delightful pattern and I might try something with the tucks in as Jenny demonstrates.     May I say how much I enjoyed today's workshop of Jenny's Origami Hexagon.  we could not have a - it was just lovely.  Many thanks.

Take 3 from Mary

Mary says: I like to think that this is either a Quaker or Amish quilt, you know the type that has a deliberate error as nothing can be perfect in this life!!  Mind you there are quite a lot of errors, but not too bad for a first attempt I suppose.     Well done - Mary - it looks lovely. Interesting that both Mary and Tina redesigned the quilt blocks in to the same design - not the one Jennie and Val did - any others out there?

Dresden Plate cushion

have completed my first Dresden Plate block and made it into a cushion.  Using the Creative Grids ruler, which I found to be excellent, and a Moda charm pack "Indigo Crossing".  I machine pieced then hand appliqued.   I was pleased with the result, as I had always thought this block to be very difficult.  The cushion is a gift for my friend who has a seaside cottage at Polzeath in Cornwall, where, I am hoping, it will fit in very nicely.

Your site is such an inspiration, I always check for tips and inspiration before I start a new project.

Best wishes

Roberta

Snuggle quilt from Joyce

Have completed another project. It was hard for me because I used scraps of materials of different textures and so had to resize blocks several times. It was however a very learning process for me.       Many thanks to DawnCameron-Dick. If you want to see the workshop that inspired  Joyce  click here:

Mini Mosaics is a winner for Lyn

Hi Valerie...must share my good news....
after watching your fabulous videos & picking up so much knowledge especially the mini mosaics with Paula...I entered the NFWI Makower Quilt Challenge  'Summer Days' & have won 1st prize......       The theme this year is 'Summer Days'...we had to design &  use 50 % of certain Makower fabrics ( I used 100% as I didn't want to bring any more colours in).I played with the lyrics to Gershwins Summertime to suit quilters!

First Sampler Quilt Finished!

Hurray I have just finished my quilt.  I love it.  For me it looks fabulous.  I know I can improve in stitch in the ditch and quilting but as you tell us practice makes perfect.
Thanks a lot for your tuition and guidance.
Regards
Joyce   It's lovely Joyce and yes you will always improve with practice, but we never seem to stop learning or improving!   Its a journey that I hope you will continue to enjoy.
