Valerie had a workshop to make a lovely two block quilt, which has a free downloadable pattern. The fabrics used have been designed by Lewis & Irene and are entitled Flo’s Wild Flowers. You can find this video by clicking here. On the same day we met quilter and textile artist Janet Harker in her lovely home studio in Wivenhoe. We tried to find out about the people, inspirations and ideas that have inspired her work. Also you learnt that Janet is not afraid of the doing creating on a big scale. A week later on Friday 13th October 2017, we had a workshop from Carolyn Forster who continued with her hand-piecing patchwork series. That time she was sewing hexagons together with just a running stitch. To open this video just click here. Also on 13th we continued knitting series with our knitting expert Rosie Woodland. She showed us another useful basic technique known as 1 by 1 rib stitch. This technique is often used on lower edges of projects, cuffs and the necklines of garments to create a neat and firm edging.
