Cherry Blossom confetti Applique workshop with Kate Findlay

Kate Findlay shares with us her confetti cherry blossom design. Kate guides you through the steps to create this lovely small picture using confetti applique.   She shows you how to create the background, and give a little bit of thought to the horizon. She then adds the tree and branches which are both fused.  Finally, Kate sprinkles confetti to create the blossom. A small amount of free motion machine quilting is used to create texture, as well as holding the confetti into place.   Watch Now+

Liberty Needlecase with Sallieann Harrison

This great little project designed by Sallieann Harrison uses a simple folded technique to produce texture, and you can use vinyl too for extra effect. Sallieann has developed this technique for use with the sewing machine. You could do some of it by hand if you wanted.  Create the  folded texture by having strips of fabric cut on the bias so that they stretch nicely for you.  Using vinyl will give a see-through look, rather like a window, but you don’t lose any of the contents if you are making a small bag. Watch Now+
