#10 Iron Caddy Tote sewing project with Valerie Nesbitt
Dropping slightly from #7 in 2024 to #10 in 2025, the Iron Caddy Tote sewing project is a regular favourite. This is such a neat idea as it allows you to carry your iron safely – even when warm as it has a heat resistant lining. Plus, it gives you a small surface on which to iron on. Such a clever and practical idea.
#9 Recycling Men’s Ties
More and more, people are looking for sewing ideas in short form video. Or as YouTube likes to call them, “shorts.” The idea of re-using old ties to make quilts was revived in this short. It proved so popular on YouTube that it has broken into our Top 10.
#8 Rounded edges tip for your Dresden Plate with Jennie Rayment
We always look to include lots of hints and tips in our video tutorials. They prove very popular, as this tip by Jennie Rayment did in 2025.
#7 Horn Sewing Machine Cabinets
This is an oldie that surprised us all by jumping back into the Top 10. The video received lots of comments from youngsters who are starting out on their Grandmother’s sewing machine and looking for ways to set up their sewing machine. Horn Cabinets are an ideal solution. A truly helpful video stands the test of time.

#3 How to finish a Hexagon Quilt by Nancy Adamek
An old favourite is still in top 3, dropping just one place this year. In this video, Nancy Adamek shows you how to complete your quilt once you have all the hexagons made. She also gives advice about pinning, tacking and the applique stitch.
#2 Tying Your Quilt (short)
We step back in time with traditional quilt tying – a charming alternative to sewing. Here we have another example of how a short is reaching new audiences. As a result, this video climbed to #2 in our top 10 for 2025.
#1 MOST VIEWED: Practice, Practice, Practice with Dionne
We have a new #1 this year. Dionne discusses with Jayne Brogan and Valerie Nesbitt the importance of practicing a new skill. No one can try something new and be an expert first time. Machine embroidery takes practice. Setting the machine to the right tension, having a go at the new skill and practice, practice, practice. You can watch every episode of The Makers Studio, for FREE. Enjoy.
Honourable Mention
Honourable Mention, this year, goes to two shorts that went viral on TikTok and Instagram: How to make a suffolk puff (or yo-yo) and Can’t see what you’re sewing? Try this tip. Shorts were clearly a trend in 2025. Will interest in this format climb in 2026? Check in here this time next year to find out.
