Rosee shows us how to create these yarn-overs, which are are usually worked form the knit side of your work;  she also show s us how to identify the stitch when we get back to it, AND how to create this extra stitch/hole effect when working from the purl side of your work.

As this stitch is a way of increasing the stitch-count, it is often used in conjunction with a decrease stitch somewhere in the row – that way keeping the stitch count even.

Other names for this stitch can be yarn forward, or yard round needle.
