Ideas for the backing of your quilt together with using up some of the leftovers.
With the help of some quilts from her quilting friends and students Valerie shows you some alternative ways of making the backing fabric stretch!
You need to remember that the backing and the wadding should be the same size as each other and bigger than the quilt front by about 3″ all round – this allows for any take-up in the quilting and also gives a fudge factor when layering up!
So with this is mind often the backing fabric just isn’t big/wide enough – so here are a few ways of using fabrics that might be left overs and some tips on what to avoid.
Once you have made the fabric big enough, you need to layer, quilt and bind! If you need help on this in the workshop which forms the final part of the Block of the Month Series Your First Sampler Quilt with Valerie click here
