A revisit to this mecca for textile artists and those seeking inspiration for their creative juices in Cambridgeshire.
In part 1 of our visit to the Textiles in Focus exhibition that was held in Cottenham, Cambs we are introduced to Pauline Verrinder who is not only the organiser of this event (which has now been running for 12 years) but also the mentor and teacher for several of the groups who were exhibiting.
Pauline was also kind enough to give us a short demonstration on how to make skeleton style leaves for use in seed heads by simply using the free motion stitch on the machine and some old scrim fabric (my Mum used that for washing windows but this is a much prettier use!)
Fen Edge Textiles had an exhibition running in Wisbech.
www.fibrefusion.org.uk where you can find out more about them and their books.
We meet with Camilla from Outward Images, who is hooked on extreme knitting and crochet. www.outwardimages.co.uk
Art Van Go are suppliers who have everything and anything that the textile artist might want and we enjoy meeting and talking to Sharon Osborne, who is a wonderful textile artist herself and shares some of her creative inspiration from here ‘Whatever’ book. She teaches from time to time at the Art van Go Studios and to get more information click here:
We also caught up with Jamie Malden from Colouricious (colouricious.com) who was busy rubber stamping BUT also using the deColourant products, as well as showing us how to combine a simple stamped image with some simple embroidery stitches and beads – stunning results.
