This outdoor quilt exhibition was set in the beautiful RHS Partner Garden of Cae Hir, in West Wales. The 2013 exhibition was given the theme ‘The Netherlands’ to celebrate 30 years since the Akkermans family moved from Holland and settled in the small village of Cribyn in West Wales.
The house and land was bought with the sole intention of creating a garden for the public to enjoy and in 2014 the gardens will celebrate it’s 25th anniversary since opening to the public
The 2013 exhibition was (on the day we were filming it) very wet! But we hope you still enjoy wandering round the garden with Karen Cocksedge as our hostess, and meeting some of the authors of the 21 quilts and Julie Akkermans, the owner of the garden.
We also visit the traders tent (who were kept nice and dry) where we meet
Batiks and Beads, (www.batiksnbeads.co.uk)
Pen Coed textiles and her peg looms; (www.pencoedtextiles.co.uk) (and we have her book on the subject here in the shop)
Celtic jewellry and carving,
and Dorothy’s crafts.
The 2014 exhibition has no theme and you are invited to join in;
The dates are 1st, 2nd and 3rd August and once again Coates Crafts are kindly supporting them by donating a bundle of fabrics for 1st prize.
(The gardens are not open during the winter months.)
Dates for 2015 are: 78 & 9th August – contact details as above
