Description

Valerie shows you a number of quilts and designs which will hopefully inspire and inform you.

Lots of quilts use sashing.  Traditional sampler quilts have their blocks separated by sashing. Simple quick quilts can have the squares separated by sashing. The sashing can have cornerstones or not; can be fancy with your patchwork creating stars at the intersections for instance.

Valerie also shows you how to ensure that the vertical sashing remains in a lovely straight line across the horizontal sashing – no wobbly lines allowed!

For construction information on the cornerstones used in the series Your First Sampler Quilt – you can click here:

The blue and white quilt was made  from a pattern called ‘Vintage Rouge’   which Valerie  used in combination with her scrap stash.
