This video is an introduction and beginner’s guide on how to turn a piece of patchwork into a quilt. Valerie talks about the things you need to do and also the options you need to think about:

size of backing and wadding
layering to get ready for Quilting
stabilizing the layers ready for Quilting
to quilt by hand or machine
type of thread to use – either by hand or on the machine
where to quilt
and binding

This 9 block quilt comes together really quickly and is a great opportunity for using those larger design modern prints. Valerie chose a selection of pale grey with an alternative terracotta fabric that read as plain. Although they are tone-on-tone the selection within the quilt is effective.
