Description
Rotary Cutting Squares and Triangles
In this our 3rd Block we continue to help with the rotary cutting skills and we discover how to create fast and accurate half-square triangle units.
This block is very simple in its original format and great to use up scraps, as we suggested when we had the ‘Be a Star and Make a Star’ competition and many of the blocks are now (and have been) made up into quilts for the charity.
The variation block which incorporates a 4-patch in the corners (as well, possibly) in the centre also works well as a complete quilt and the 4-patches will give a trellis/chain look to the quilt (you would have the 4patch colours all headed in the same direction).
Note that if you are making several of these blocks you do need to pay attention to the spin of the star – you would want them all spinning in the same direction!
