Sallieann Harrison gets excited about her voyage of discovery, using clear vinyl appliqué in two different projects
Sallieann discusses making her quilted cherry tub pattern with window flower appliqué using a cut away method. She demonstrates how to sew 1/4” bias strips to the edge of the vinyl and the importance of using tiny stitches and pivoting to create accurate curves.
This tub is quilted to ensure its stiffness and keeps its shape.
The second project uses appliqué hearts to embellish the clear vinyl pocket on the pouch.
Sallieann demonstrates the use of baking parchment to iron the hearts onto the vinyl before machine stitching and uses a variety of stitches to secure and embellish the hearts finishing with a back stitch to lock the thread.
