Although Valerie is demonstrating this tip with a very simple 9 patch block, the habit is a good one to get into.  Complex patterns will benefit!

This is an extract from our longer series of workshops entitled Your First Sampler Quilt in which Valerie takes you through all the stages for making a quilt, from choosing the fabrics through cutting and piecing.  And for those with some sewing skills, there is often a second more challenging block for you to try.  Each block builds on the skill set learnt in the preivous one.
