This is a simple 9-patch block and is created by using two colours – a background and a feature colour.

  • Four corner squares of the background fabric 2 ½” (3 ½”) (4 ½”)
  • One centre square of the feature fabric 2 ½” (3 ½”) (4 ½”)

Construction of Half-square triangle units:

  • Cut 2 squares of each fabric 3” (4”) (5”)
  • Put fabrics right sides together
  • Draw centre diagonal line
  • Sew ¼” either side of it
  • Cut up the diagonal
  • Press
  • Squareup each unit accurately to raw edge size of 2 ½” (3 ½”) (4 ½”)

Then lay out block as 3 across x 3 down and sew together in rows. After it sew rows together matching seams and press.
