Paula Doyle shows us the 8 quilts which combine history with textile expertise and you can get involved in the Thames Mosaic which runs along behind them all by sponsorship.
STOP PRESS – these quilts are on display at the Festival of Quilts, NEC Birmingham August 11-14th 2016.
These quilts, are 40ft long x 7ft high in total, double sided have been made to celebrate the 800 years since the signing of Magna Carta. There are 4 Medieval and 4 Contemporary Quilts, and as we walk round them with Paula Doyle you will get to see the lovely quilts as well learn so much history.
You will also learn about the encaustic tiles each of which represents a letter of the alphabet and which will surround the quilt, and which will have a message from the 39th Clause of Magna Carta which deals with human rights.
The Legacy Quilts continue the story of human rights with 25 shields on display of the barons who were involved and on the oak trees hang thread painted pictures of people who were and still are involved in human rights.
The quilt were made by Paula Doyle, Alison Garner and the other ladies of the Magna Carta Quilt Association.
The quilts travelled to Houston in October 2015 .
Their Facebook page is under Magna Carta Quilt Association and their Twitter thingy is @MagnaCartaQuilt
