Lee shares her love of handwork with us for a lovely cushion which would make a perfect holiday project as it is so portable.
Lee mentions that she uses pelmet vilene to give some of her Japanese folded pieces more structure – you could also use Timtex and you will find this on the shopping pages, in the patchwork accessories section.
Lee was formally trained in commercial design at Hornsey School of Art (now part of Middlesex University) and then textiles at the London College of Fashion. A trip to New Orleans and a visit to a quilt show in 1974 sparked off her enduring passion for fabric construction and embellishment.
As well as working on commissions from her studio at home, Lee has for the past 15 years been teaching City & Guilds Certificate and Diploma in Embroidery, Patchwork and Quilting and the elements of design in adult education centres in Kent. This year a masterclass is being offered
Lee also lectures, gives workshops and judges at many UK events; you can find her at www.leebrowndesigns.co.uk
