Template and Ruler Demonstration Series with Jennie Rayment • Educational, G, 01-Jun-2016
The Drunkards path patchwork is a traditional favourite, and Jennie shows how this template will speed up your cutting as well as give you accuracy for easy sewing. Clamshell is also a design that you can create from this!
Jennie uses the template to cut from strips of fabric and reminds you how to stay safe – always cut away from you, and reates with a strip of fabric that is 6.5 inch, perfect for the width of the rulers!
She uses the 5 pin method on the drunkards path arc, if you are a dressmaker, this will be very familiar to you from setting in the sleeves. Seams pressed flat not open.
The Five pointed star is another design favourite. Five Point star is often appliqued onto the background, but does fit into the L of the Drunkards Path too. Jennie shows how to use this set of 2 templates. Tips from Jennie on how to save fabric too, they are infact joined with a Y seam and creates a circular design.
If you are used to working in metric, all these templates will work for you, no maths involved.
Jennie gives several design options for you and reminds this is a great use of scraps from your cupboard too.
