When the fabric just isn’t long enough to fit round the quilt , what do you do? Valerie Nesbitt has some clever answers to help you .
In this workshop Valerie discusses what to do when the fabric isn’t long enough to go down (or across) the quilt all in one go.
Valerie always tries to avoid having a short piece of fabric at the end of the border. One of the simple ways of doing this is to add cornerstones.
What can you do as a border if you have an event amount of fabrics? Valerie has the answer. You can strip piece them and then again add cornerstones.
The end result means that it looks like you thought about the borders rather than having them as an afterthought around the quilt centre.
Valerie is the founder and Creative Director of justhands-on.tv , as well as our very own ‘Queen of Scrap’. She founded Creative Quilting, a quilt quilt shop in Hampton Court, where she still teaches to this day.
