Description

This lovely quilt, designed by Sally Ablett, uses a block called Turnstile and is a free download. Valerie gives you some hints and tips on how to achieve accurate piecing.

Valerie talks you through the various pieces that make up the block – which includes half square and quarter square triangles and explains that while you need to cut out in 1/8ths of an inch, this shouldn’t be too scary as your ruler does the work.

These is a helpful tip too from Valerie about cutting through the various layers and how she likes to keep the counting to a minimum but cutting sufficient for each block in one go.

As these blocks appear to spin, you do need to make a decision on which way they are going to go – it doesn’t matter but the plan is that they all spin in the same direction (of course you can be a rebel and have one or two going the wrong way!)

Here is the link to the free pattern download – click here

but you will obviously not get to enjoy all the helpful tips .
