Region 2 of The Quilters’ Guild we have moved their annual quilt show to Lullingstone Castle near Maidstone where they will have our first ever Quilt and Craft Festival.

They have managed to acquire a huge concession on the entry price for Guild members and it includes a visit to the castle, the grounds and The World Garden designed by Tom Hart-Dyke whilst he was in captivity in Colombia and fearing for his life. The garden is now well established and one of the nationally celebrated attractions at the castle which has been his family home since 1497. So for just £5 (you must show your membership card), you could have a wonderful day out . Non members will have to pay £10 per adult but children are free as are carers for registered disabled people. Why not organise a coach trip for your local quilt group!

Quilts in the castle and the church – tombola and raffle with lovely prizes including a silk quilt designed by Sylvia Critcher and a Bernette sewing machine courtesy of Bernina UK – traders – quilting and other crafts – demonstrations every day – Embroiderers’ Guild and Quilters’ Guild tables – ceramics – jewellery – soaps – candles – wooden ornaments – artwork – knitting – crochet – gifts – glass – photography and lots more. Each day will feature an owl meet and greet and a treasure hunt for the children. The beekeepers will be answering questions. Best of all there will be a good selection of quilting traders! Book signing day for “Unravelling the Yarn” by Claire Weiss is Saturday.
