Ipad Cover a great success

I wanted to wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year and also to share my completed i pad cover with you, which is a gift for my neighbour for Christmas.
I found the instructions easy and the end result looks a lot more complicated than it actually was.  Fabrics found in the Lady Sew and Sew Warehouse in Henley.

Many thanks for the continuing inspiration, I've only been quilting for eighteen months and find your website very helpful for techniques, tips and inspiration.

Best wishes,

Roberta

Tote-it-all Bag in production

Just to say a big thank you for the tote bag workshop.  I saw it yesterday afternoon and am now the proud owner of six new shopping bags. They were a great way of using up some very odd jelly rolls I bought on line and which had some very odd novelty prints in them.  However made up as bags they look great!

Traditional Tumbling Blocks

This lovely quilt was made by hand (but not with papers) by Jo Willows and she used lots of fabrics that had a real meaning to her and the famiy - so a great heirloom memory quilt as well.   Hand sewing is very portable and very sociable and Jo finds that this fits her lifstyle alongside her machinework. If you are inspired we will be sharing the 'how to' with you shortly!

Dresden Plate and Grandmother’s Fan

These traditional patterns work so very well for scrap quilts but here are some that Valerie put together from petals sewn by one of her students: The challenge was to see what different settings worked and also how to use up the various petals which had been made at random!

Contribution from Catherine in France

Hello, I have joined your club as I was looking for an idea to recycle men's ties. I did find your excellent project and have started working on it. I also want to show you the entirely handmade bed cover that I have just finished. It took me about 12 years. In 1994 I stopped working as an English teacher and joined the patchwork club of Alençon.

Log cabin by Lucy

Lucy is one of Val's students and was given patchwork classes as a gift (she chose these over a skydive!);  She had no knowledge of sewing or indeed a sewing machine and her first quilt was a Trip Around the World. This is her second quilt which was given as a Christmas present to her Mum and now proudly displayed on her bed.

Lifted Star inspiration

Hi Valerie...loved doing these....so made two!   I would add that the measurements are quite tight! Had a little trouble stretching the first one over the hoop...so cut the final rounds a little wider for an easier life!..Lyn and if you want to enjoy the workshop - click here

Granddaughter’s Memory Quilt

Lyn seems to be such a busy grandma. She says: Am just coming to the end of my Granddaughter's memory quilt...my daughter Ali couldn't bear to part with Izzy's old baby clothes so asked if I could do something to 'keep': all the sashings are from her dresses and I used the bibs and babygrows for the pictures. also stitched in the age labels on the tangled star pillow front....Lyn

Here is Anna with the quilt that she made from the leftovers of the quilt made by her Mum for her birthday. She designed her quilt by herself, with all the embellishments!  - clever girl:

More inspiration from our workshops

Just to let you know I really enjoy your video clips on techniques and workshops and find them very easy to follow, I watch the same ones over and over especially Jennies and Maggie Davies techniques on applique. Please see the attached photo of a cushion I made using my new embellishment equipment, I was going to make a picture but after seeing Jennies video on piping a cushion thought why not give it a go and I was very pleased with the outcome and think I will get more use of it as a cushion (only to look at not use, couldnt ruffle the lambs coat) I also put a zip across the back.
