Festival of Quilts 2019 – and the winners are..

Valerie and Steve visited Festival of Quilts this year to chat to our friends and tutors. They also saw the amazing quilts on display, although one created a few talking points on Facebook.

And the winners are…

The winner of the ‘Secondary Schools & Groups of Young Quilters’ category is Atelier de couture magique with their quilt ‘Years over the sunset’. We love it!
Shenley Brook End School won the ‘Primary Schools & Groups of Young Quilters’ category with their quilt ‘Memories, the Mind is a Puzzle’. Lovely work!
The talented #KyleLong won 1st place in the Young Quilter / Embroiderer Aged 14-18 category with his piece ‘My Memory Timeline’. Well done and congratulations!
Naroa y Nahia Sevilla’s quilt ‘Hermanas por el mondo’ is the winner for the Age 10-13 Young Quilter / Embroiderer Category. Fabulous details!
This is #BeatriceVarley‘s quilt ‘Rainbow Fairy Memories’, the winner in the Young Quilter / Embroiderer ages 5-9 with the theme ‘memories’. We are so proud of her!
#KateDowty‘s quilt ‘Forty shades of green’ is the winner of the Quilters’ Guild Challenge and a favourite of the admin team here. Simple and presented in lovely colours! Congratulations!

Congratulations to the talented artists #MaryPalmer and #AnneKiely who won 1st place in The ‘Two Person’ Category with their impressive quilt ‘Who will tell the bees’. Also #HandiQuilter Best in Show Award.

We love #LynneBarker’s emotional quilt ‘Chest’, the winner of the ‘Quilt Creations’ Category. Congratulations!

#JuanaCastañedaRomera won the 1st place in the ‘Pictorial Quilts’ Category with her ‘De Oriente a occidente la mas’ quilt. Beautiful details, delicate result!

What an amazing quilt, with a rich texture! #KatarzynaPlesniak took 1st place in ‘Novice’ Category with her ‘Pieces of memories I’ quilt.

The winner of the ‘Traditional Quilts’ category is #GwenfaiReesGriffiths with her quilt ‘Pennsylvania’. Beautiful and sophisticated! Congratulations!

Congratulations to #RobynFahy who won 1st place in the ‘Modern Quilt Category’ with her ‘Fractured Circles’ quilt. Amazing rhythm and motion, don’t you think?

#CowslipWorkshopsgroup is the winner for ‘Group Quilts’ Category with their quilt ‘Over the hills & far away’. Love it!

#BettyBusby used silk, hemp, nonwovens machine stitching and fusing to create this amazing piece called ‘Vertex’, the winner for Art Quilts Category.

Just admire the fabulous quilt ‘Fractal’ by the talented #ClaudiaPfeil which placed 1st in this year’s ‘Contemporary Quilts’ Category! Congratulations!

Congratulations to the talented #AndreaStracke who took 1st place in the ‘Hand Quilting’ Category with her quilt ‘Ruby’. Beautiful work!
