A Redwork Embroidery Show and Tell with Gail Penberthy

Redwork embroidery is an embroidery backstitch, so it’s very simple to do. Today, Gail shares with you a wide range of ideas which can be worked in the traditional red, but you could also be a rebel and work them in coloured threads too.  Gail also suggests making the patterns in fused applique.  Watch Now+

We have a selection of Gail’s redwork patterns in the Shop. Learn More+

Dog Rose Trapunto pincushion from Sylvia Critcher

Sylvia talks us through all the stages of making this charming little pincushion using corded and stuffed patchwork and these steps apply to all her patterns and projects. She talks through the materials she likes to use, including threads. In this very comprehensive workshop Sylvia shows you how to mark your design on to the calico; use simple running stitches to create the channels; stuff the channels and shapes to create the trapunto and corded Italian designs.  Watch Now+

Christmas panel tablemats with Valerie Nesbitt

Valerie has been looking at different ways to create table mats. In this workshop you start off with the small pre-printed panels as a focus and then add half-square triangle units. She makes them easily with her favourite method of Thangles. This means the seam allowance is really accurate. She also shows you how not to worry about the funny size of the panel. Valerie suggests that you could make individual mats, join them together to form a runner, or make a quilt – pre-printed panels are not just for Christmas!  Watch Now+

Stitch and Flip Table Mats with Valerie Nesbitt

This technique is also know as Quilt-as-you-go, and Valerie gives you a few ideas of simple small projects to make as well as tips on what you should think about through your work. Quilt-as-you-go is a sort of sewing by numbers, through all the layers of your project. This means you can be finished in double-quick time. There are commercially printed projects that you can purchase however, this technique is really easy for you to develop yourself and lends itself to you being able to finish things quickly. Watch Now+

We have some preprinted wadding in our Shop:
