Beginner Patchwork Sampler quilt series with Sallieann Harrison – Promo film

This summer we are very excited to be offering a brand new beginners patchwork quilt series with Sallieann Harrison. She will be taking us through step by step how to make a stunning sampler quilt. In this video she introduces the quilt to you and the full workshop episodes will be available from August onwards.

During the series of workshops you will learn how to rotary cut safely; machine piece accurately with 1/4″ seam allowance;  press (rather than iron) your work; be introduced to the fused applique form of patchwork;  add sashing and borders; layer quilt and finally bind using a double fold machine binding technique.  Watch Now+

Sallieann designed this beautiful quilt herself and remade it for us using the Forest Fruits fat 8ths colour pack from Oakshott Fabrics. This fabric is available in the Shop, along with 7 other colourways, that the quilt would look equally stunning in. Learn More+

We also have an upgrade pack of background fabric and sashing, also from Oakshott Fabrics Learn More+

If you are going to Festival of Quilts  at the end of this month, pop along to Oakshott’s stand – G83 – where you can buy the fabrics as well.

Whitework eyelet embroidery technique with Kate Barlow

Kate Barlow shares with us this element of whitework which creates a hole without cutting any of the threads, so remains very strong. These eyelet designs were often used on garments where both sides of the work would be seen. Kate shares with you a great way to start and stop without leaving any knots or unsightly threads on view.  Watch Now+

Kate also has a beautiful kit available to accompany this workshop. Learn More+
